COLUMBUS, OHIO — Ohio’s fair season is here, and so is the Ohio Republican Party. Starting with the Paulding County Fair in June and running all the way through the Ohio State Fair, the Ohio GOP and Republican leaders will be on the ground at county fairs in all 88 counties this summer — and Ohioans are invited to stop by and say hello.

The effort carries a straightforward message: Democrat gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton quit her job as State Health Director rather than sign the order allowing Ohio’s county fairs to reopen. In her own words, Acton called that order “the final straw” for her resignation. Republicans think Ohioans deserve to hear that — and what better place to hear it than at the very fairs she tried to shut down.

Chairman Alex Triantafilou put it plainly: “Amy Acton quit on Ohio rather than let families go to the county fair, and she has never had to answer for it. This summer, she will.”

Agricultural leaders in the General Assembly are joining the push. State Representative Bob Peterson, a member of the Ohio House Agriculture Committee and an 8th-generation farmer, noted that county fairs are where generations of Ohio farm families — 4-H, FFA, and beyond — come together to show a full year’s worth of work. State Senator Susan Manchester, a member of the Ohio Senate Agriculture Committee, echoed that sentiment: the fairgrounds are where Ohio communities have gathered and competed for generations, and voters should know who tried to take that away.

At fairs across the state, Team Vivek will have a presence with volunteers, campaign literature, and a life-size cutout of Acton — a reminder of where she stood when Ohio farm families needed her. The program runs all twelve weeks of fair season, from Paulding County to the Ohio State Fair. Find upcoming events and locations at ohiogop.org/gop-events.
