COLUMBUS, OHIOJon Husted‘s U.S. Senate campaign is going on offense with a new statewide television ad — “Rolled Out” — charging that Sen. Sherrod Brown spent 32 years in Washington putting illegal immigrants above Ohio families.

The 30-second spot is backed by a $2.2 million statewide buy running two weeks across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. The ad’s central charge: Brown “rolled out the red carpet for illegal immigrants” throughout his career in Congress.

According to the Husted campaign, Brown backed Joe Biden’s open-border policies — policies the campaign says allowed drugs, human smugglers, and gang members to pour into Ohio communities. The campaign also charges that Brown supported amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants, a number the campaign notes is roughly equivalent to Ohio’s entire population, and voted to extend those immigrants taxpayer-funded benefits including subsidized healthcare, Social Security, and COVID-19 relief checks.

Said Husted, “For three decades, Sherrod Brown put illegal immigrants above the Ohioans he swore an oath to serve. Brown backed Joe Biden’s open-border policies, which allowed drugs, human smugglers and gang members to pour into our state and threaten our communities. Ohio families deserve a fighter in the U.S. Senate who will put their safety and well-being first, and stand up for the rule of law — not with dangerous criminals.”

Amy Natoce, Husted campaign spokesperson, added: “While the national debt soared and inflation hit record levels, Sherrod Brown chose to give Ohioans’ tax dollars to criminals. Ohioans are sick and tired of coming last on Sherrod Brown’s priority list. They’ll elect Jon Husted this November to put Ohio first.”
