COLUMBUS, OHIO — The United States Supreme Court handed states a landmark victory on June 30, 2026, upholding laws protecting girls’ and women’s sports in a 6-3 ruling along ideological lines. The decision vindicates what Ohio Republicans fought for — and what every single Ohio Democrat in the legislature opposed.

When Ohio passed its law to protect women’s sports, not one Democrat voted for it. Now, with the nation’s highest court affirming the constitutionality of such measures, those Democrats — and the candidates they back — have nowhere to hide. Senator Rob McColley called out the disconnect directly, noting that Democrat gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton has yet to answer for her party’s unanimous opposition to the law.

Said Senator McColley, “When Ohio passed a law to save women’s sports, every Democrat in the legislature voted against it. Does Amy Acton agree with the liberal extremists in her own party? If the press was doing its job, it would ask her.”

The Supreme Court’s ruling is a victory for Ohio families, female athletes, and the commonsense values that Republicans have championed at every level of government. Ohio Republicans stood on the right side of this issue from day one — and the court has now confirmed it.

The Ohio Republican Party calls on Amy Acton and Ohio Democrats to answer a simple question: do they stand with the Supreme Court and Ohio’s female athletes, or with the liberal extremists who voted against protecting women’s sports?
