    'REJOICE AMERICA' by environmental artist David Jakupca is the World's Smallest Hand Painted Outdoor Mural commemorating America's 250th Anniversary was dedicated at the Edelweiss Garden of the historic ARK in Berea Museum on July, 4th, 2026.'REJOICE AMERICA' celebrates murals as visual expressions of identity, civilization, lifestyle, education and belonging. Drawing from America's rich cultural heritage, it features patterns from various communities, subtly echoing the Nation's geography and native landscapes.'REJOICE AMERICA' incorporates iconic folk motifs, like the Worlds Children Peace Monument (WCPM), the cornerstone of the Great American Peace Trail, paired with images symbolizing how traditions are deeply rooted in both place and people. The composition evokes warmth and welcome, inviting reflection and connection and simple authentic happiness through Iceality.'REJOICE AMERICA' — honors Indigenous American. Mexican American. African European communities through pattern, color. and symbolism. The design represents the ever-changing cultures as fluid — evolving, celebrating and shaped by shared experiences — truly a multicultural mural that celebrates America's heritage and its Future.

  • Time Capsule Opening at the Bandstand

    An event 50 years in the making!We will be opening the time capsule that was sealed in the bandstand during its construction in 1976! Hear from local historian Michael Johnson, Lancaster Parks & Recreation Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Shamblin and local politicians. You will also have an opportunity to speak with Larry Smith, one of the original builders of the structure.We will be placing the contents back into the capsule (along with some items from 2026) and resealing it. It is to be opened once again in 2076, 100 years after the original construction. Come see what Lancaster residents left for us 50 years ago!The event will take place after the 4th of July Parade at 1:30pm at the bandstand in Downtown Lancaster. It will last approximately 1 hour.

    Following the Independence Day parade will be the dedication ceremony of a historic Freedom Monument in the Pump House District, a testament to America's founding principle and a lasting symbol of liberty for generations to come.Interested in participating in this historic occasion? We are in need of 250 Ashland County veterans and active duty service men and women to help us make history as we dedicate this space. This commitment will require you to be available from 1:15-3:00pm on July 4, 2026 and to stand for 30-45 minutes.

  • Alliance City Band Concert

    This living history concert celebrates America's 250th birthday by recreating performances from the historic Alliance City Band, which served the community from 1859 until 1992.American Musical Productions presents a 23-piece ensemble conducted by Joseph N. Rubin, featuring musicians in period uniforms performing a program based on a recently discovered July 1926 Alliance City Band program. The 75-minute concert is free and includes beloved band classics.Food trucks and fireworks conclude the evening.In case of rain, the event moves to Alliance High School Auditorium, 400 Glamorgan Street.Presented by: Alliance Historical Society, Alliance Parks and Recreation Department, and American Musical Productions.
