Statement from ORP Chairman Jane Timken Regarding Columbus Protests

Columbus,OH – Ohio Republican Party Chairman Jane Timken released the following statement regarding the protests that took place in Columbus last night:

“Last night, Columbus experienced what is happening in cities across the country. Racism and bigotry should have no place in our country. I empathize with the protesters and understand that we need to have a real conversation on race relations. The dialogue that peaceful protestors were hoping to initiate last night, however, soon turned into chaotic riots. I am a firm believer that violence is never the answer. I believe in the First Amendment and am hopeful that any future protests will allow for a conversation to take place through conflict-free means. No one deserves to have their life cut short, and we need to use this time to heal and move forward as a country.”
