SUMMARY:Time Capsule Opening at the Bandstand
DESCRIPTION:An event 50 years in the making! \nWe will be opening the time capsule that was sealed in the bandstand during its construction in 1976! Hear from local historian Michael Johnson\, Lancaster Parks & Recreation Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Shamblin and local politicians. You will also have an opportunity to speak with Larry Smith\, one of the original builders of the structure. \nWe will be placing the contents back into the capsule (along with some items from 2026) and resealing it. It is to be opened once again in 2076\, 100 years after the original construction. Come see what Lancaster residents left for us 50 years ago! \nThe event will take place after the 4th of July Parade at 1:30pm at the bandstand in Downtown Lancaster. It will last approximately 1 hour.
